| 作品描述 | 在这部作品中，我探讨了中国俗语“牛头不对马嘴”所表达的沟通不畅的主题。这意味着由于双方的话题或价值观不同，他们无法进行有效或有意义的对话。这件作品的一个有趣之处在于，观众根据自己以前的经历产生了多种解读。这是我个人展览“Dream of dreams”中讨论最多的作品之一。人群中有两种特殊的解释。一方面，许多西方观众或年轻观众认为，梯子代表了对话中虚伪的恭维，导致接受者缺乏自我意识(不能区分他们是牛还是马) ，最终导致他们的衰落。另一方面，许多中国观众提到了相同的发音“上下”和“达到”在汉语中，结合事实，马代表成功在中国传统文化，最终理解为牛和马“达到”通过梯子(沟通)。来自不同文化的不同诠释完美地契合了我这部作品的主题，我希望将来我的作品能够吸引国际关注，引发强烈的跨文化对话，唤起人们对不同意识形态/思维方式的尊重。In this work, I explore the theme of miscommunication expressed by the Chinese saying roughly translated to “Horses' jaws don't match cows' heads”. It means due to the different topics or values from two parties, they fail to engage in effective or meaningful conversation. One intriguing point of this piece is that the audience generates multiple interpretations based on their own previous experiences. It is one of the most discussed pieces within my personal exhibition Dream of dreams. Two specific interpretations stand out from the crowd. On one hand, many Western or young viewers believe the ladders represent the hypocritic compliment during a conversation, which leads to the lack of self-awareness among receivers (couldn’t differentiate they are cows or horses), and eventually causing their downfall. On the other hand, many Chinese viewers refer to the same pronunciation of “up-side-down” and “reach” in Chinese, combined with the fact that horse represents success in traditional Chinese culture, eventually reading the successful understanding between cows and horses “reached” through ladders (communication). The various interpretations from different cultures fit my theme in this work perfectly, and I hope to attract international attention with my works in the future to spark intense cross-cultural communication and to invoke people’s respect towards different ideologies/mindsets. | ||
